  1. Thank you so much for your help. I have saved this information and just waiting to collect enough money and buy one. I’ll update you with what I finally end up purchasing, hopefully soon.. 🙂

    • Looking forward to it 🙂 If you are getting the Panasonic, do let me know please! I want one for myself!

  2. Thanks for your reply, here I go:
    – I already have a Sony digi so that’s potable enough, I am perfectly alright with a small bag.
    – The upper limit would be 30K, thats like super max.
    – I’d say both, something like you do..

I have a bit of experience with phography, I sort of studied it for 3 years and used a manual SLR way back then. Got wound up with life and gave up so now want to resume again..

    • Sort of studying photography for 3 years is outstanding! I have been sort of studying it myself 🙂

      So here we go…
Good! A small bag should fit a prosumer camera well, and some of the models that I can think of right away are : Panasonic DMC FZ150, Canon PowerShot SX40 HS and Nikon Coolpix P500. Depending on their availability in India and your ability to source them from outside India, any of these cameras would let you document your memories well, and also play around with photography as an art to some levels of satisfaction! I say some levels because they have their limitations wrt speed and low light conditions etc, but they do save you the hassle of carrying multiple lenses, carrying heavy equipment etc which comes with dSLRs. I am looking forward to buying the Panasonic myself as that allows me to click RAW images!

Additionally, all three of these cameras are under $450, so geting them from the US should take care of budgets well! What you need along with them are atleast 2 memory cards of 4GB each, and atleast one spare battery along with a sexy bag and a decent tripod (look for something call gorilla-pod as well on the net too)

      Hope that helps!

  3. Brilliant digiatl as always.. And hey, I’ve been looking out for a camera to invest in, any recommendations please..

    • Hey Sam!

      Thanks!

Here are a few questions for you before I recommend a camera

      1. Do you want to be able to carry the camera in your pocket or you are ok with a small bag alongside?
      2. Budget?
      3. Just capturing what you see or photography as an art or both?
